The linden tree of Sambeek

At this place you can take the ferry across to Afferden in Limburg. Sambeek was an independent municipality until 1942. A notable landmark in the village is the century-old lime tree. The tree (near Grotestraat 93) is between 350 to 500 years old. During a storm, it lost its crown. Due to weather influences, it became hollow. From the inside a new tree grew. The Sambeek lime tree is therefore also called a mother-daughter tree.
