Boc's Lake

Lord Jan Boc was occupant of the castle that stood on the inland water De Meere around 1300. The place Boxmeer (Boc's Meer) was later named after this lord.
On the site of the castle the present Castle Boxmeer was later built. The castle has been rebuilt and rebuilt several times over the centuries. The present walls still contain remnants of the original walls.

Among other things, the castle has served as a hospital and nursing home.
