Oeffelter Meent
Discover with this Staatsbosbeheer walk the Oeffelter Meent, a Natura 2000 area with grasslands and river dunes of sand and gravel.
This walking route also leads past ancient plots separated by the typical Maasheggen. In summer, horses and cattle keep the vegetation short. On the bare spots germinate seeds of small purslane, wire clover and cross thistle, among others. For birds, the Oeffelter Meent is a paradise: they find food, nesting places and shelter everywhere. Badgers also feel completely at home here.
The route is marked dark blue by Staatsbosbeheer and can be extended with the Saint Agatha route if necessary.
