A day out in the Maasheggen
The unique and varied landscape of The Maasheggen lends itself perfectly to hiking and cycling. Set out on your own or use thematic routes in the area.
You can learn more about the special history of the area by cycling the Duvelsklökske route or following the Roman road. During the Fabelroute, also suitable for families with children, you can read and hear fifteen contemporary fables about animals that live in the Maasheggengebied. Or get the walking map with eleven short and longer walks through the Maasheggengebied at the entrance gates.
Equestrians with horses are also welcome! The equestrian network in De Maasheggen was recently renewed.
Water lovers can have a wonderful time at De Kraaijenbergse Plassen in particular: building rafts, sailing, renting a boat, bird watching or swimming.
Sights
In the Maasheggengebied you will also find special historical sights such as the oldest inhabited monastery in the Netherlands in Sint Agatha, the Castle in Boxmeer or the Jewish Cemetery in Vierlingsbeek. The vineyard in Sint Agatha, the water mill in Vierlingsbeek and the weir in Sambeek are also well worth a visit. You will discover more details here on this page.
