From Tree to Forest walk in The Maasheggen

Staatsbosbeheer exists 125 years.To add lustre to that anniversary, 2024 has been declared the Year of Forests. A year-long focus on trees and forests in the Netherlands. The foresters of Staatsbosbeheer have set out a Van Boom tot Bos walk in 28 forests throughout the Netherlands, including in the Maasheggen area.

The Van Boom tot Bos walk in the Maasheggengebied starts at the parking lot on Maasstraat in Groeningen. You follow the green route here. Along the way you will come across posts with a QR code. Scan this code with your phone. A forest story or video message from the forester will appear automatically. See below an example of a video message you will encounter along the way.

At your own pace
The beauty of the From Tree to Forest Walk is that you can decide for yourself when and how you walk the route. You can walk the route all at once or in stages. For example, you can stop halfway and pick up the walk again on your next visit. You can also return with family, friends or your family.

Behind almost all QR codes is a small and fun assignment for children (and adults). These assignments do not require additional materials; the solutions can be found in the forest.
