Senior citizen walk on The Felt

Published: Sunday, September 29, 2024

On Thursday, November 7, Senioren Overloon and IVN De Maasvallei are organizing a walk on De Vilt.
De Vilt, an area of about 154 hectares and owned by Brabants Landschap, is an old arm of the Meuse that has been separated from the Meuse since well before the era of the River Meuse. Between 2008 and 2012, De Vilt underwent a major refurbishment and cleanup. The Grote Vilt is separated by the Moerbaan, which served as a supply and drainage road during the cleanup. On the very other side is the Kleine or Oeffelt Vilt.

Would you also like to go, with a guide, to explore the area? The approximately two-hour walk starts at 1:30 p.m. at the parking lot on the Moerbaan. The parking lot can be reached via the Heiveldsestraat in Beugen. Sturdy and waterproof footwear is recommended.

Register through the IVN De Maasvallei website. For more information, call Ben Verheijen, phone 06-11115514.
