Bird watching during IVN walk

Published: Thursday, April 25, 2024

With the best bird watchers of IVN De Maasvallei as your guide -and possibly a smartphone in hand- no bird will escape you during the bird watching walk of IVN De Maasvalle on Sunday, April 28. The two-hour walk takes place in and around the Vortum Mountains and starts at the IVN De Pontipad near De Schutkooi on Veerweg in Vortum-Mullem. The walk starts at 8 a.m.

In mid-spring, birds are busy with their territories and luring a mate. Most migratory birds have also returned. This is the ideal time to spot birds. Bird watching is above all listening to birds, because you don't always get to see them. You usually hear them before you can get them in sight. If they stay put for a while, participants on the walk will get a close-up look at them with a telescope. Bring your binoculars, too.
