Official celebration Maasheggen UNESCO biosphere site
The unique Maasheggen area was officially recognized as a UNESCO human and biosphere area on July 25. Biosphere reserves are areas with a special status where man and nature come together. Where there is intensive cooperation on sustainable development and goals on economy, nature, tourism and water.
With this status award, the Maasheggen becomes part of a global network of more than 650 UNESCO biosphere areas in 120 different countries and the second biosphere area of the Netherlands. Together with the area partners, entrepreneurs and residents, it will be celebrated later this year. Participation by invitation only.
