Amateur field biologists KNNV visited The Maasheggen
At the end of April, nine amateur field biologists, all members of the KNNV (Royal Dutch Natural History Society), were guests at Land van Cuijk. Among other things, they visited De Maasheggen during their stay at minicamping 't Brenneke in Sambeek.
The KNNV has 8,500 members and 50 chapters throughout the Netherlands. Each year some 18 camping excursions are organized in the Netherlands and abroad. Members contribute suggestions for these, like this time De Maasheggen. The participating members made a bicycle tour through De Maasheggen and the Eckeltsebergen, located in De Maasduinen (North Limburg). In addition, they visited De Vilt near Beugen and the Oeffelter Meent. Also on the program was an excursion led by Maasheggenkenner Marius Grutters.
'We got to know De Maasheggen as a rich bird area, with lots of insects and a lot of variation within a short distance,'" summarized chairman Frans Roozen of the visit to De Maasheggen.
